+ Senior Director, Manager of Operations
Position Summary
The Senior Director/Manager of Operations is responsible for building and leading the end‑to‑end operations for mmTron, a fabless semiconductor start‑up focused on mmWave markets. This role owns supply chain, outsource manufacturing, quality, logistics, and operational excellence to ensure predictable delivery, cost, and quality. This role requires a hands‑on leader who can establish processes and infrastructure from the ground up, while partnering closely with design, product engineering, test, finance, and sales to support rapid growth and customer commitments in demanding RF applications.
Responsibilities
• Define and own the overall operations strategy for a fabless RF semiconductor business, including foundry, assembly, test, and logistics models aligned with company growth plans.
• Select, qualify, and manage external manufacturing partners (foundries, OSATs, test houses, module assemblers), including contract negotiation, QBRs, and performance management.
• Establish and maintain production planning, demand/supply balancing, and master scheduling processes to support customer forecasts, new product ramps, and inventory targets.
• Implement scalable processes and systems for order fulfillment, WIP tracking, inventory control, and logistics (including die, packaged parts, and modules) across global locations.
• Build and lead a high‑performing operations team, including supply chain, production control, planning, and manufacturing/outsourcing program management.
• Partner with design, product/test engineering, and quality to ensure robust NPI handoff, qualification, and ramp to volume production (DFM/DFT/DFx, qualification plans, reliability testing, and release criteria).
• Own operational KPIs (on‑time delivery, cycle time, yield, cost, inventory turns, supplier performance) and drive continuous improvement using data‑driven methodologies.
• Implement and maintain quality systems appropriate to RF semiconductor markets (e.g., ISO‑like processes, customer quality requirements, aerospace/defense or telecom expectations as applicable).
• Lead risk management for the supply chain, including dual‑sourcing, capacity planning, business continuity, and mitigation plans for critical nodes and materials.
• Collaborate with finance on cost modeling, standard costs, COGS tracking, and margin analysis; support pricing and business cases with accurate operational inputs.
• Support customer engagements on operational topics (lead times, qualification status, change control, quality incidents, traceability, RMA/FA support), including direct interaction with key strategic accounts.
• Define and drive implementation of appropriate tools/IT systems for an early‑stage fabless company (e.g., ERP/MRP, PLM, reporting dashboards), scaling as the business grows.
• Champion a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence consistent with the expectations of Tier‑1 RF, aerospace/defense, and communications customers.
Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, operations management, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of experience in semiconductor operations, supply chain, or manufacturing, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role owning P&L‑critical operational outcomes.
• Direct experience in a fabless semiconductor environment managing foundry, assembly, and test subcontractors, including contract negotiation and performance management.
• Demonstrated success establishing and running operations processes in a high‑growth or start‑up setting, with comfort operating “hands‑on” and building structure as the company scales.
