Seyed Tabatabaei, Ph.D.
President & CEO, Founder
Dr. Seyed Tabatabaei founded mmTron in 2020. He previously served as CEO at Teramics, a design services company focused in mmwave markets. Prior to that, Dr. Tabatabaei was VP of Semiconductor products of Endwave Corporation, a manufacturer of RF, microwave and millimeter-wave products, which was acquired by Renesas. Earlier positions include Engineering Manager of Microelectronics organization within Hewlett Packard (Keysight Technologies). Prior to HP, he worked at MaCom and Laboratory for Physical Sciences. Dr. Tabatabaei holds a PhD from University of Maryland in College Park and management Certificate from MIT Sloan School of Business
COO, Executive Vice President of Operation, Co-Founder
Mona Molaasgari brings over 17 years of experience in mmwave technology with a proven track record in managing operation in a fast-paced start-up. She has a in-depth knowledge of supply chain in RF, mm-Wave, Microwave and Optoelectronics.
Mona holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a certificate in SAP.
Sina Barkeshli, Ph.D.
Vice President of System Engineering
Dr. Sina Barkeshli is a Senior communications system engineer with more than 30 years experience in technical leadership, architecture design, project and program management, and delivery of the broadband communications systems.
He has a wealth of knowledge in the millimeter wave sub-system design and development for next generation high throughput satellite communications payload; i.e., LNA, Receiver, Filters, Up- and Down-convertors, and SSPAs.
Babak Soltanian, Ph.D.
Advisor, IC Design Engineering
Babak Soltanian is a seasoned tech entrepreneur and engineering leader with more than 20 years of experience at Silicon Valley startups, Fortune 500 and International corporations. He has been spearheading innovation from concept to commercialization of CMOS/BiCMOS SoCs/RFICs for Autonomous Vehicles, 5G, IoT, and WiFi.
During a decade of career at big corporations until 2010, Babak held senior engineering positions at Qualcomm, Broadcom, and NEC where his ground breaking RF/Analog/Mixed-Signal designs became an essential part of multiple generations of commercial RFIC/SoCs for Cellular, WiFi, and storage devices. Babak holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University with major in RF Integrated Circuits and a minor in Technology/Innovation Management. He also graduated with a doctoral degree in Wireless Communications from Tampere University of Technology in Finland, and received his MS, BS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.
Matt Amel, BSc, MSc
Director of Product Management and 5G Network Optimization
Matt Amel has over 15 years of experience in Operation, Product Management, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. As the director of product management at Acxiom, he led the creation of the next generation ML Platform. Previously he led the launch of many innovative predictive models (optimization, anomaly detection, …) at Sumo Logic, Rocket Fuel, and AOL/Verizon. Early on he worked at Bell Labs developing network management systems based on ITU-T standards. He holds two MSc degrees and BSc Eng from the Ohio State University.
Anh-Vu Pham, PhD
Advisor/Member of the Advisory Board of Directors
Prof. Anh-Vu Pham (Ph.D. Georgia Tech, 1999) is a full Professor at the University of Davis, CA conducting research in mmwave hybrid and integrated circuits. Prof. Pham has served in the Technical Program Committee of multiple IEEE conferences. Prof. Pham is a co-director of the Davis Millimeter Wave Research Center. Prof. Pham is the co-founder of RF Solutions (acquired by Anadigics) and Planarmag (acquired by TE Connectivity).
Glen Riley, BSEE
Glen Riley has a broad semiconductor industry career spanning over 32 years with several senior leadership roles in public companies. Most recently prior to retiring in 2017, Glen was the General Manager of the Filter Solutions Business Unit at Qorvo providing highly integrated BAW filter based modules to flagship mobile phone manufacturers including Apple and Samsung.
Prior to TriQuint merging with RFMD to form Qorvo, Glen established and made operational the first international headquarters for TriQuint based in Singapore. Earlier roles at TriQuint included VP/GM of the Commercial GaAs Foundry Business Unit and VP/GM of the Optoelectronics Business Unit. Before joining TriQuint, Glen was CEO of an optical technology startup called Opticalis. He has also led global teams growing profits with Agere Systems, Lucent Technologies, AT&T Microelectronics and Texas Instruments. Glen has lived overseas twice, once in Tokyo and again in Singapore.
Glen completed The General Management Program from the Harvard Business School and graduated as valedictorian from the School of Engineering at the University of Maine with a BSEE. He is currently a member of the board of directors at a public optoelectronics company called POET Technologies and an advisory board member with Resonant, an RF acoustic filter company.
Scott Sweetland, BSEE, MBA
Scott Sweetland is an engineering and sales executive with more than 37 years experience. Scott retired after 11 years service from BAE Systems in June of 2020.
At BAE, Scott was most recently the Strategy Director for Advanced Electronics for the Electronic Combat Solutions business area in Nashua, NH. Prior to that Scott was the Director of the Advanced Microwave Products Center where he was the business leader for Advanced GaN/GaAs amplifier products and III-V Foundry for the Electronic Combat Solutions business. Prior to that Scott was the Technical Director for RF Microelectronics in FastLabsTM, located in Merrimack, NH.
Scott came to BAE Systems after a 20-year career (mostly in Sales and Executive Management) in Wireless Telecom, where he was part of two successful start-ups in the Wireless Backhaul space; Ceragon and Innova both of which became successful NASDAQ Corporations. Scott served as President and also as VP Sales and Chief Visionary Officer and was a board member of Ceragon in his 9 years at the company. He previously consulted for Avian Securities, an investment firm in Boston as a wireless expert. Scott has a BSEE from UMASS Amherst and an MBA from Southern NH University
George Black, BSc, MBA
George Black is a sales and marketing professional with more than 37 years experience in various roles including the last 5 years as North East Region Sales Manager for Qorvo, a position he retired from in August 2020. Qorvo is the merger of TriQuint and RFMD.
Prior to that, George was in the same position for TriQuint for 10 years; and, after being named region manager of the year in 2013, was competitively selected by Qorvo to continueas RSM at the end of 2014. George has had various industry positions, including sales director for AWR software, manager, where he developed an approach that allowed his area to have the largest percentage growth in North America in 2005.
George has also worked at Temic (an Atmel company) as North American business development manager selling SiGe foundry and components. George has had a number of other successful industry marketing and sales roles.
Prior to getting into the RF and microwave industry, George was honorably discharged from the US Army with a rank of Captain; while in the Army, George flew and maintained helicopters. George has a MS in Business Administration from Boston University
